Unlike most projects, this one did not start from the ground up. Instead, we began by tearing down the small, out-dated cabin on this site and used the original, albeit, reinforced foundation to build on. It’s been exciting to watch this project evolve from that original structure, to the base foundation, to this modest and thoughtful cabin. Working on a site so rich in natural beauty, with the deck resting mere feet from the Gallatin River, we saw it as our duty to craft a home that complemented its natural environment. If I could use only one word to describe this cabin it would have to be natural. From siding and soffit, to beams and beadboard, everything on this house is wood. Working with these materials in tandem with keeping open communications with the homeowners afforded us the opportunity to brainstorm unique trim details that resulted in an authentic and distinctive product to satisfy everybody’s vision of this project’s potential.
